Patricia Leydon, Lic.Ac., M.Ac., Dipl. Ac. (NCCAOM)
Patricia was one of the first acupuncturist licensed in Massachusetts and has been in practice since 1985. She has a Masters degree from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute (now Maryland University of Integrative Health) in Colombia, Maryland and then went on to study with Dr. J.R.Worsley at the College of Traditional Acupuncture in Leamington Spa, England where she received advance degrees. In addition she has studied Chinese herbs with Ted Kaptchuk and at the American College of Traditional Chinese Medicine in San Francisco. Patricia is National Board certified by the National Commission of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
Patricia was a founder and partner at Cambridge Health Associates, a multidisciplinary health practice, where she worked for 20 years and has been in private practice in Newton, MA since 1985. She was a founding member of the Massachusetts Board of Registration, Committee on Acupuncture where she served as the Vice Chairperson from 1987 to 1997. During her tenure the committee established and promulgated rules and regulations for the safe practice of acupuncture, including educational and examination requirements and the licensing and disciplining of acupuncturists. Patricia also served as a clinical supervisor for the Traditional Acupuncture Institute from 1988-1990. She raised her three children in Newton, MA.
Patricia volunteers at Rosie's Place in Boston, MA providing acupuncture services to poor and homeless women. From 2011 to 2103 Patricia had a practice in the Durham/Chapel Hill area and volunteered at the Acupuncture Detox Program at the Center for Accessible, Affordable, Research, and Education (CAARE Inc.) in downtown Durham.
Patricia's initial training was in Traditional Acupuncture and still is the foundation of all her treatments. She believes that it is the most effective way to reach the underlying energetic cause of a person's symptoms while treating the entire body, mind, and spirit. Among some of the other disciplines Patricia went on to study are Sports Acupuncture and Corrective Exercises, Facial Rejuvenation, Infertility, Addiction and Trauma, Balance Method, Chinese Herbal Medicine and Whole Food Nutritional Supplements.
